Yesterday was just great. I put in a nine-to-four shift at the student union, then came home to watch plays from the King's Fringe Festival (thanks to affabletoaster for demystifying the admission process). Saw Memoirs of a Geisha last night with bleeding_smoke. It was quite good, especially the visual aspects, though the emotion felt muted. (I think the filmmakers were going for "understated," but went too far.) Michelle Yeoh is awesome. I should watch more Chinese action movies . . . maybe Vid Dif has some titles ( Read more... )

I saw King Kong with logicbreaks this afternoon/evening. I loved just about every aspect of it save the length - some of the chase sequences midway could have been cut much more tightly, losing none of the excitement or resonance. Christmas is going nicely. My family liked my gifts, which were: Superman for All Seasons for Dad (I read it to make sure it's good ...), The Who and Fleetwood Mac CDs for Mom (also listened to make sure the second-hand discs don't skip ...), Body Shop soap for Gordon (didn't use that), and a beaded necklace and ring for Alice.
